Equity for Women was founded based on the early work of executive director Aleah Moore, during the final phase of focus group research conducted by sister organization, Boss Women Matter. This initiative comprised 97 women founders and aimed to enhance our understanding of the current landscape for women and the pathway forward.
Initially, "Equity for Women" referred not to a formal organization, but to a network of collaborators committed to inquiry, exploration, and relationship-building. A central tenet of this approach was the urgent necessity for public and private discussions on the issues often referred to as "gender equality"

Concurrently, our society lacks the vital relationships and shared language needed to sustain meaningful dialogue. The priority of Equity for Women is to build these relationships to recover the power of language. At every stage of development, Equity for Women seeks to build capacity through collaboration and care.
